ECON 208 - Principles of MicroeconomicsCredits: 3 The course will introduce students to the Economist's lens of 'knowing' social phenomena. This lens is formed of the Cost-Benefit approach to individual decision-making, which draws from diverse fields such as ethics, cognitive science and game theory, along with the interactions of these decisions through coordinating mechanisms, such as a market. Social phenomena examined include 'everyday' phenomena such as: why do we find a lot of carts laying around the parking lot of one store in comparison to that of another store? as well as phenomena of a larger scope, such as: why the physical conditions of homes in an area can impact its crime rate.
