HIST 470 - Pilgrimage in History

The concept of pilgrimage occurs in many cultures as religious and secular activities and associated locations.  This course investigates the mechanisms by which people decide to undertake pilgrimage within specific historical contexts.  This course analyzes the theoretical issues, logistics, social roles,  and rituals of such journeys.  Chronology and geography vary by individual offering.

Prerequisite(s): Sophomore standing or consent of instructor

Repeatability: Repeatable with topic change up to six credit hours
