DMS 312 - Introduction to Diagnostic Medical Sonography Credits: 2
This foundational course provides an overview of the field of diagnostic medical sonography and introduces students to the role of the sonographer within the healthcare team. Topics include knowledge and application of ergonomic techniques, methods of infection control, communication and collaboration in the healthcare environment, sonographic terminology, and professional ethics. Emphasis is placed on developing a strong understanding of medical terminology, the interpersonal and communication skills necessary for patient-centered care, current trends, accreditation standards, and career pathways within the sonography profession.
Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
