In the Social Services Designee certificate program, students will gain knowledge and understanding of the role of social services within long-term care. They will learn about aging and the purpose and function of social services, including regulation and processes applicable to the long-term care sector. This certificate can be obtained in conjunction with any field of study at USI.

As per the Indiana Department Health regulations, 48 hours of instruction are required for the Social Services Designee certification, and this is accomplished through five courses.

Certificate Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 credit hours toward the certificate must be completed at the University.
  • Credit hours earned for a certificate may be applied toward another degree program. However, a student cannot earn a certificate that is fully embedded (or subsumed) with the requirements of his/her majors or minor, but must include at least three (3) unique credit hours.
