Addiction Science CertificateGraduate Study at USI >> College of Liberal Arts 812-464-1843 9 Credit hours The Online Advanced Studies in Addiction Science - OASAS (Addiction Science Certificate) is designed for individuals who are interested in, or need education and training in, addiction services. This 100 percent online sequence of courses provides the latest knowledge, skills and attitudes of professional addiction treatment practice. Courses are offered by blending desktop video conferencing and an online learning management system. By enrolling in these courses, students will have opportunities to learn addiction theories and techniques, the basics of psychopharmacology, and crisis intervention tools utilized in assisting addicted individuals and their families. Courses are offered as 7-week (fall/spring) modules. |

Program Admission RequirementsAll requests concerning admission to the Addiction Science certificate program (OASAS) should be addressed to the Social Work department, University of Southern Indiana, 8600 University Boulevard, Evansville, Indiana 47712. Email USI.MSW@usi.edu or phone 812-464-1843 to request information. Students may find instructions and application materials at www.usi.edu/socialwork. Admission decisions for the Addiction Science certificate are based on a review of past academic performance, relevant work and/or volunteer experience, academic and professional references, and an admission interview when required. Applications will be reviewed when all materials have been received by the MSW admissions committee. OASAS coursework is non-sequential and admission applications with supporting documents are reviewed when received. The minimum criteria for admission to OASAS are:
Prerequisite course content older than 10 years must be validated with a course description from a University Bulletin or course catalog, submitted by the applicant, from the year the course was taken. OASAS does not grant academic credit for life or work experience in lieu of social work course or field content. It is the applicant’s responsibility to provide all required materials to the School of Graduate Studies and the Social Work department by the application deadline. | ||||
