Chemistry and Biochemistry department

The Chemistry and Biochemistry department provides degree programs in biochemistry and chemistry. Both programs offer an American Chemical Society (ACS)-approved option for students interested in graduate programs or seeking employment in industry or other areas requiring a strong background in chemistry. The non-ACS approved chemistry option allows flexibility for students interested in other areas while still providing a good background in chemistry. The non-ACS option in biochemistry is well suited for students interested in medical, dental, pharmacy, or other professional schools. Lastly, the chemistry and biochemistry department provides courses that serve other degree programs at USI (including, but not limited to biology, engineering, geology, and nursing) and offers courses that meet Core 39 requirements in natural science.
