Program Options: Accelerated One-Year or Traditional Two-Year Tracks

The Master of Science in Sport Management offers two tracks. A first-of-its-kind 4+1 (accelerated) degree track allows you to complete both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in five years. The two-year master’s (traditional) track is ideal for those who have already completed a bachelor’s degree. Both tracks are flexible for today’s graduate student and provide the knowledge to become a skilled professional in the sport industry. This also is a great option for those looking to advance in an existing career.

Master of Science in Sport Management Curriculum

Both the accelerated and the traditional tracks in the MSSM require 36 graduate credit hours. The accelerated track includes a total of 156 credit hours (120 undergraduate and 36 graduate hours) that can be completed in 5 years. The undergraduate portion of the program provides opportunities to pursue one of four areas:

  • Intercollegiate Athletics
  • Recreational Sports
  • Sport Communication
  • Sport and Business Studies

The master’s portion in both tracks adheres to the Excellence in Sport Management Education guidelines for graduate-level programs including coursework in the following areas:

  • Social/Psychological
  • Management
  • Ethics in Sport Management
  • Sport Marketing/Communication
  • Finance/Accounting/Economics
  • Legal Aspects of Sport
  • Integrative Experiences (internship)
