College of Liberal Arts >> Interdisciplinary Studies
39 hours; 2.0 major GPA required
The Global Studies major is an interdisciplinary course of study, including a 39-hour major, a 39-hour Core 39 requirement, and open electives. Students also will complete a minimum of two years (four semesters) or equivalent study in one non-English world language. International study or work is strongly recommended.
The Global Studies Bachelor of Arts degree consists of existing courses offered in the College of Liberal Arts, the Romain College of Business, and the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education. All students will complete a common core of seven courses from five different disciplines. These are followed by six electives drawn from various disciplines. The elective coursework must include no more than two courses from any one discipline, except the Global Studies discipline, ensuring that students are exposed to a minimum of three disciplines, making this a truly interdisciplinary major. Additional special topics courses may be approved for elective credit. Consult the Global Studies advisor for approval. Course descriptions for the core courses and electives may be found under their specific disciplines.
