Romain College of Business

12 hours; C or better required

The Romain College of Business offers individuals the opportunity to complete a combination of courses leading to a Certificate in Professional Sales. The required courses provide students a strong foundation of knowledge in the strategic and tactical aspects of sales and sales management and equip students with valuable interpersonal and digital skills needed to excell in a variety of professional sales careers. Students also have the opportunity to customize their learning experience by selecting an elective from among 6 courses, including a sales internship (sales internship must be approved by the Chair of the Economics and Marketing Department to count towards this certificate).

To earn the Professional Sales Certificate, an individual must complete the three required three-hour courses and one of the designated elective course for a total of 12 credit hours. A grade of C or better is required for the courses to count toward the Professional Sales Certificate.

The Professional Sales Certificate is available to all USI majors as a standalone credential. While there is no requirement that students must possess a degree in order to enroll in the program, many of the courses in the program have prerequisites.

Certificate Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 credit hours toward the certificate must be completed at the University.
  • Credit hours earned for a certificate may be applied toward another degree program. However, a student cannot earn a certificate that is fully embedded (or subsumed) with the requirements of his/her majors or minor, but must include at least three (3) unique credit hours.
  • Coursework taken more than 4 years before the certificate is awarded may not be applied toward certificate requirements.
