Restaurant Management Certificate

The restaurant management certificate provides individuals with a strong foundation of knowledge in managing a food service operation. Courses focus on food safety, restaurant management, purchasing, human resource management, and controlling food service costs. In addition to traditional coursework, there is a practicum course that provides students with hands-on experience in a food service establishment. Upon completion of the coursework, students will earn a nationally recognized certification in restaurant management. Certificate is open to all majors, minors, and individuals in the community.

Undergraduate Certificate Requirements


  • Credit hours earned for a certificate may be applied toward another degree program.
  • A minimum of 6 credit hours toward the certificate must be completed at the University.
  • Coursework taken more than 4 years before the certificate is awarded may not be applied toward certificate requirements.
  • Students earning an undergraduate certificate are not eligible to participate in commencement exercises, but the credential will be added to their official transcript record.
