Master of Health Administration (4+1)

The College of Nursing and Health Professions offers three options for a Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree (MHA 4+1, MHA, and MHA-Health Informatics Specialty).  Regardless of the chosen option, the MHA program is 39 credit hours.

The MHA program will educate students for leadership roles in health care.

MHA Program Mission

The mission of the MHA program is to equip students with competencies, skills, and knowledge necessary to achieve and sustain leadership roles in the dynamic, growing field of healthcare.  The program’s curriculum is based on evidence based practice enriched by fully integrated research activites with faculty and community partners.

Program Information

The MHA4+1 Option allows current USI undergraduate students of any discipline the opportunity to earn both the Bachelor’s degree and the MHA degree in 5 years.

Admission Requirements for MHA 4+1 Option


  • Completion of at least 75 credit hrs.
  • Undegraduate GPA of 3.5 or greater
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Two page letter of intent describing a clear rational for pursuing the MHA 4+1 program which ideally would include previous leadership experience in work or volunteer settings.
  • Two letters of recommendation:  One letter from a USI faculty member and one letter providing a general character reference.  Both should be signed and sealed by the writer.

Following review by the admissions board, eligible students will be contacted to schedule a multi-team interview.

 

Curriculum (39 hours)


Curriculum for All Programs

The MHA program is designed in a cohort model, meaning matriculated students will take all courses together toward graduation.  The course sequence is based on which option the student selects (MHA 4+1, MHA online, or MHA-Health Informatics Specialty).
