MATH 391 - The Teaching of Mathematics in Grades 5-12
This course is designed to develop the pedagogical content knowledge and instructional practices necessary to teach mathematics in grades 5-12. Topics will include lesson planning, the use of technological and manipulative tools in the teaching and learning of mathematics, assessment methods, theories of learning mathematics, mathematical misconceptions of students in grades 5-12, and current research in mathematics education. This course will not serve as an upper-level mathematics elective for the major or minor in mathematics. Prerequisite(s): MATH 291 , C or better, MATH 323 , C or better and junior status.
