BIOL 481 - Organic Evolution

Credits: 3

A discussion of the science of evolution and how evolutionary theory can explain the diversity of life on earth. Topics include evidence for macroevolution, the history of evolutionary thought, adaptation, population genetics, speciation, and human evolution. As a synthesis course, contemporary issues such as the role of evolution in science education and evolutionary explanations for human behavior will be framed by appropriate scientific, historical sociological, and psychological perspectives. Meets The University Core Curriculum  D1: Synthesis category. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 215  and junior status in science or consent of instructor.
