SOCW 510 - Social Welfare Policy and Service

Credits: 3

Provides a framework for social welfare policy analysis with special attention to the state policy-making process and the impact of policy on persons that may be disadvantaged by poverty and other forms of oppression. The course emphasizes culturally competent policy practice and advocacy related to diverse populations regarding age, culture, class, ethnicity, disability, gender, national origin, race, religion, and sexual orientation. Policy practice skills related to policy formulation development, implementation, and evaluation will be addressed. Prerequisite(s): admission to the MSW program, SOCW 503  and SOCW 504 .
