NRSG 641 - Introduction to Primary Care Across the Lifespan

This course provides graduate nursing students with a foundation in the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) role across the lifespan. Content emphasizes the FNP scope of practice, regulatory and professional standards, and the application of diagnostic reasoning and evidence-based pharmacology in the primary care setting. Students will explore the initial assessment, health promotion, and management of common acute and chronic conditions in pediatric, adult, and older adult populations. Emphasis is placed on preventive care, patient and family education, and early recognition of conditions that require referral or collaboration. Ethical and legal considerations, interprofessional teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills are integrated to prepare students for progression into advanced FNP clinical coursework.

Prerequisite(s): NRSG 622 (Grade of B or Better)
